Free Business Tips, Ideas, and AdvicePacking Items to Mail
Boutique designers should package their items with care. Imagine that you are a customer opening the item that you ordered: I would want this item to be wrapped and presented neatly.
1) Always pick a box that is big enough for the item that you are sending, NEVER smash an item into a box.
2) Boxes, envelopes, and packaging supplies can be obtained cheaply by visiting: http://www.uline.com or at http://www.usbox.com.
Also, eBay is often a great place to find inexpensive packaging supplies.
Consider wrapping your item in tissue paper, an organza bag, or tying it with a ribbon. Tissue paper is an inexpensive method of packaging that can add great detail to your item.
Always include a few business cards (as customers make the best referrals). Some optional information to include in the box:
1) Instructions for your return policy (if you offer one)
2) A thank you card for placing the order, or an incentive for another order or a discount to give to a friend.
3) A small promotional product also makes a nice gift. For example, I once ordered homemade recipe cards to put in a gift basket I was making. The company had a laminated business card that had a measurements conversion table on the back. I still have this table hanging on my refrigerator.
Be creative with your packaging, as it is yet another way that you present your business.
